Volunteers in our in-school programs will have the opportunity to assist trained peace educators as they provide mini workshops and peace lessons during the school day at various elementary schools in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area. During these sessions, children are taught mindfulness, empathy, anger management, conflict resolution, and self-empowerment. Students build self-esteem, counter bullying, learn how to work together to solve problems, and help transform their schools into peaceful and collaborative communities.
LFFP offers various in-school programs across the DMV area so this opportunity has flexible time slots available and occurs in various locations around the city. For Fall 2019, we are looking for volunteers during the following in-school session times:
- Every Monday, 1:30 - 3:30pm
- Every Wednesday: 1:30pm - 3:00pm

Mission Statement
Little Friends For Peace (LFFP) is a nonprofit committed to answering violence with skills for peace. LFFP's mission is to counter violence and contribute to a worldwide culture of peace by sharing skills to prevent, resolve, and transform conflict with individuals, families, teams, and communities. We hope to empower children and adults to build relationships through empathy and to solve struggles nonviolently through compassion and mindfulness. LFFP believes peace starts within: the more we practice personal peace, the more peace there will be in the world.
Description
We started with our Peace Camps almost 40 years ago, but now LFFP offers various programs for children, youth and adults to experience, learn, and practice peace. These include: peace workshops, peace camps, in-school and after-school programs, prison and restorative justice circles, peaceful parenting workshops, service projects, and the LFFP Peace Academy for conflict resolution training. Through these programs, we empower a community of peacebuilders with practical strategies for better personal, interpersonal, and communal lives.
