We are searching for a volunteer yoga instructor to conduct evening classes every other week at our drop-in center in Lakeview. Our youth are struggling with housing instability and related issues and would love to participate in a class that centers the mind and body on a regular basis! We start our evening programming at 6:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursday by serving a shared meal to our participants, then allow them to find necessities from our clothing closet. We are hoping to cap off two evenings per month with a 45 minute yoga practice lead by a willing and able volunteer.

Mission Statement
Ending the cycle of youth homelessness. We do this in cities across America, one youth at a time.
Description
In 2009, a handful of volunteers were moved to start the Chicago chapter of StandUp for Kids by making sandwiches in a Lakeview church basement. Along with providing street outreach services, we have a safe drop-in center (2012) for our Chicago’s homeless youth to relax and socialize, as well as a hot meal and access to our closet to obtain much needed clothing and personal items. Further, the youth have access to our volunteers who are there to help to the best of their ability with homework, and/or interview training, mentoring, counseling and emotional support.
We seek volunteers for our drop in center evenings (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday) as well as volunteer groups who would like to supply meals to our youth.
