Many students, especially in the healthcare industry, are looking to gain direct patient care volunteer hours for their degree. Hospice is a great fit to make that happen. We provide exactly what a healthcare student needs to fulfill those hours for their degree. We provide students with the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a terminally ill patient. Our patient care volunteers will provide companionship and support to patient and their families with things such as: Friendly visits, Writing letters, Reading to patients, and Light housekeeping. Every patient has specific needs that we match up volunteers to those specific needs. Not only will you gain hours for a degree, you will have an experience that you can only get in hospice and end of life care.

Choosing to be a hospice volunteer isn't easy, but it comes with lifelong rewards. Your gift of compassion brings solace to patients while cultivating purpose in your own life.

How you can help:

Hospice volunteer opportunities are endless, ranging from visiting with a patient to clerical work to fundraising support. All hospice volunteers receive free training.

About Compassus Hospice

Location:

30665 Northwestern Hwy, Suite 150, Farmington Hills, MI 48334, US

Mission Statement

The Colleagues of Compassus Hospice are committed to keeping The Hospice Promise by delivering the highest quality of care, serving the needs of patients and families and spreading the stories of hospice to those with whom they come into contact.

Description

Most volunteers feel personally rewarded through offering their time, energy and compassion when they see how much they are able to help patients and families. Further benefits frequently experienced by our volunteers include:

  • Greater self-knowledge from insights gained from relationships with patients, their families and from the hospice volunteer training.
  • Spiritual growth from supporting a person through the final days while increasing the awareness of their own sense of spiritual values.

The people that make up Compassus are dedicated to compassionate care, clinical excellence and providing comfort and support to patients and their families with end-of-life issues. This includes our volunteers.

At Compassus, we believe that every life is unique and deserves a meaningful and personal final journey. Perhaps you’ve experienced hospice services with a member of your family, or are looking for a meaningful way to volunteer your time. If you believe that giving your time can enhance the lives of others, we encourage you to explore volunteer opportunities with Compassus.
