What is gold, brown, and white and always has backup in a fight?... What has mickey mouse like ears and has lived in Africa for 3 million years?... What gives its sick, elderly, and injured meat to eat, and has only four toes on each of its four feet?... Another?!? What can travel 30 miles a day and still make time to play?... The African Painted dog!

Southern Africa's most endangered carnivore needs your help. Once inhabiting 39 countries throughout sub-saharan Africa with an estimated population of 500,000, the Painted dog population is now nearing 5,000. The main challenges to their survival are human-wildlife conflict, habitat loss, the spread of disease from local domestic dogs, and poaching snares. Global Conservation Force(GCF) is a non-profit organization based out of San Diego county that is dedicated to saving wildlife from extinction through education, anti-poaching, and conservation efforts. We spend a lot of time on the ground side by side with anti-poaching rangers, wildlife educators, and field conservationists in many African and Asian countries. Though we aim to save entire habitats and all that inhabit them, we do have focal species efforts for elephants, rhinos, giraffe, pangolin, and Painted dogs.

On Saturday, April 25th, we will be holding our 2nd annual Painted dog 5k/10k at Guajome Regional Park in Oceanside, CA to support the conservation efforts of the Painted dog. The Painted dog being possibly the most successful hunter/runner in the world, with a success rate of 80-85% during hunts, we figured what better way to honor them, than with a trail race fundraiser!

Volunteer duties will include "setting up" and "breaking down" the event, handing out water to runners, handing out runner pick-up packets, directing parking, and time keeping. Volunteers are free to opt out of a duty they are not comfortable with. We hope you all can join us for another great race and in the fight against extinction!

Mission Statement

Global Conservation Force is dedicated to saving wildlife from extinction through education, anti-poaching and conservation efforts.

Description

Global Conservation Force is dedicated to the protection of endangered species and their habitats through direct action, education, and awareness. We are based out of Oceanside, CA. The main way we do this is providing custom gear, advanced training, and professional back up to anti-poaching units all over the world. Most units operate on shoestring budgets and the men and women don't have the ability to purchase the items they desperately need to protect the animals to the best of their ability. That's where we come in. We provide free gear such as boots, patrol webbings, water bladders, camp stoves, etc as well as send our highly trained personal APUs (anti-poaching units) to provide advanced training and back up when needed. We also have a community outreach aspect helping connect the community to a love for animals rather than looking at their death as a source of income. We're growing every day but need help from people like you to help get our mission out and connect with more people to help us be as successful as possible.
