Thriving Elements is going global!

We are looking for STEM mentors who are passionate about elevating underrepresented, underserved girls in STEM. We are based in Seattle, WA and have virtual mentors across the globe.

As a mentor you will guide your mentee through Thriving Elements mentoring curriculum, maintain regular contact with your mentee, set expectations for how and when you'll contact each other, be open minded, professional and respectful. You will also be a trusted advisor to your mentee by maintaining a professional relationship with your mentee from high school through college and through the early parts of their professional career to make sure they get into a STEM field.

To apply visit our webpage at https://www.thrivingelements.org/mentors/

Next steps:

1. Apply online through April 15, 2020 - Our program will review your application and will let you know if you're selected to move onto the next round, which is the video interview.
2. Video interview in end of April/early May - You will be interviewed by two Thriving Elements team members who are looking for your passion to be a STEM mentor to create access and opportunities for your future mentee.
3. Speed networking May/early June - If selected to be a mentor, mentees who are interested in pursuing your field will schedule a 20 minute video call with you to get to know you and share back with our program team their feedback on the compatibility. You will also provide feedback on the mentees you had a chance to network with.
4. Mentor-Mentee matching (July/Aug) - You will be notified of your mentee match and can begin reaching out to them
5. Mentoring Kick-off - (Sept/Oct) - Formal kick-off to the cohort which is typically held in person in Seattle. In the past, mentors not in Seattle have video conferenced in or made a personal trip out of it to also enjoy the beauty Seattle has to offer.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to create access and opportunities for underrepresented girls in STEM through mentoring

Description

Thriving Elements is a high quality 1 on 1 mentoring program whose mission is to create access and opportunities for underprivileged girls in Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM). Our vision is to develop & empower young women leaders in STEM to make a sustainable impact in their communities and inspire the next generation of women leaders. This is achieved by creating a sustainable and structured mentoring program. The goal is not to replicate any other existing STEM programs such as tutoring, computer programming, robotics, chemistry labs or SAT/ACT prep. Rather Thriving Elements creates a network of partners via individuals, non-profit organizations, and businesses which mentors are trained to create access to these partners for their mentees.
