Our growing Raptor Intensive Care Unit needs dedicated volunteers. Our ICU is for injured and ill raptors recovering from surgery and/or needing medications. We have three positions available at our ICU:

Lead- Key aspects of this position are administering medication, subcutaneous fluids, tube feeding, changing body wraps and tailguards, and performing physical therapy. This individual will know how to do the job of both the assistant and helper also.

Assistant- Key aspects of this position include handling and restraining raptors for treatments. Observing the behavior and disposition of the bird in and out of the cage. This individual will know how to do the job of the helper as well.

Helper- Key aspects of this position include cleaning and setting up cages. Washing dishes, sweeping, and preparing diets for the birds.

All three of these positions require excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Some of the jobs are interchangeable between positions. (i.e. dishes, sweeping, trash collection etc.) You will be taught as much as you want to learn.

Mission Statement

Soarin'Hawk Raptor Rehab's mission is to conserve our raptor population through education and rehabilitation.

Description

Soarin' Hawk is a not for profit wildlife rescue service established in 1996 to serve northeast Indiana's injured or orphaned birds of prey. We are fortunate to be able to offer our patients a blend of modern veterinary science (volunteer veterinary services, x-ray, laboratory, and aggressive post surgical physical therapy) and the ancient art of falconry (creance reconditioning, "hack" releases of orphans, and honing of hunting skills when needed).
