Description

AseraCare Hospice is located in Erie, PA and seves Erie, Crawford, Venango, Warren, Forest, and Clarion County. Volunteers work along with hospice staff to help in areas of

COMPANIONSHIP: Often a terminal illness can isolate a patient and family from their friends or community. Volunteers offer friendship by visiting regularly to talk, participate in some activity, or just being there for the patient and family.

OFFICE: Office volunteers assist by filing, typing, copying, preparing mail outs, assembling admission and orientation packets, and other assignments as needed.

MUSIC: Our Harmony of Hearts program and Guided Angels Ministry allows volunteers to share the gift of music with patients.

PET VISITORS: Volunteers take their trained dogs and other pets in to visit the patients who like animals.

CRAFTS: Individuals and groups of adults and children makes craft projects for the hospice patients. The hospice office provides most craft materials.

BEREAVEMENT: Our bereavement program follows bereaved families and loved ones for 13 months. Bereavement volunteers assist the Bereavement Counselor with phone calls, mailings, "remembrance" services, filing, and visits.
