The Fern Street Food Ministry is looking for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our Community Breakfast team as a Co-Leaders. In these roles, these people would be responsible for coordinating all breakfast operations. Our Community Breakfast is held every other Monday morning and the co-leaders will need to be present from 7:30am-11:00am. The co-leaders will also do some work remotely the weekend before the breakfast, such as emailing volunteers and assigning roles. Food Manager certification preferred or willingness to be certified within a few months.

About the breakfast:
The Fern Street Food Ministry welcomes our local community to a free, hot breakfast every other Monday in conjunction with our Foodshare Mobile distribution. Our guests enjoy a hot, hearty meal in our dining room and the opportunity to take home free baked goods donated by several local bakeries.

Our ministry is to serve each other and the larger community, to nourish the underserved and to enrich and transform others and ourselves by helping those in need. One way we do this is by providing nutritious food to food insecure recipients.
Description
Launched in 2012, our Fern Street Food Ministry helps us to connect with people in need and put our values into action. Thanks to the support of our congregation, local donors, and dozens of volunteers, we're getting help to people who need it.
We serve hot, healthy meals in our welcoming dining room;
We pack and deliver weekend food backpacks for at-risk students in West Hartford schools;
We distribute fresh produce and meats from the Foodshare mobile pantry and our own Food Pantry;
We make and deliver sandwiches to downtown Hartford soup kitchens.
