Take part in helping hundreds of women and children get to shelter or family far away. This position requires helping part-time for 2-3 business days in our office in an operations assistance role. Tasks and workload will vary day to day and include the following functions on a regular basis:
* Prepare travel bags for clients and volunteer drivers
* Discuss travel plans with volunteer drivers
* Assist with travel data after trips (costs, miles, driver feedback)
* Create travel itineraries for scheduled bus riders
* Keep travel materials in the office organized
* Assist with training guides
* Travel at least one trip with a client as part of training (all travel expenses paid)
Some days will be fast paced while others will be slow and leisurely. Training is mostly hands-on.Soft skills needed to perform well include:
* Able to identify with women's issues and understand feminism in our society
* Comfort building rapport with team members
* Comfort in being politely assertive when needed
* Personal time management
* Courage to take the initiative
* Able to remain calm and focused when under pressure or surrounded by distraction
* Comfort delegating and soliciting help from others

Description
Families to Freedom provides free transportation services to victims and their children who have experienced domestic abuse. We make it possible for victims and new survivors to get far away from abusive relationships. Our life-saving services include car rides to domestic violence shelters across the region, road trips to family homes in other states, multi-state bus tickets, and fuel assistance to relocate far away. We serve victims and new survivors across North Texas, East Texas, and the Gulf Coast area. We drive over 900 victims and children each year between two offices located in Dallas and Houston. We rely on the generous support of the community to continue providing these services at no cost to the victims who call us.
