PetSmart Adoption Event Volunteer

Needy Paws Animal Shelter, in partnership with PetSmart Charities, holds adoption events onsite at PetSmart in Russellville on select Saturdays. PetSmart Adoption Event Volunteers will assist with setup and breakdown, looking after the animals, and greeting potential adopters.

Position Duties

Set-Up

• Assist PetSmart employees and shelter staff with clearing away item displays from event area.
• Set up wire crates and adoption table.
• Set up and fill water bowl in each crate.
• Set up mop and mop bucket for accidents!
• Help shelter staff unload dogs from van and place in wire crates.

Animal Care

• Help keep animals from getting anxious or bored by petting them, playing with them, taking them outside for potty breaks, and walking them through the store. This also shows them off to potential adopters!
• Help keep cages and animals clean by quickly clean up any accidents that happen.

Greeting Potential Adopters

• Greet every individual who approaches the event area, even if they are just shopping!

Break-down

• At the end of each event, wire crates are mopped out and put away.
• All shelter materials (donation box, paperwork, bones/toys, etc) must be collected and store back into the van.
• Any dogs that were not adopted are loaded back into the van.
  
  

Position Requirements

• Volunteers must be 18 years or older.
• Must have transportation to PetSmart in Russellville, AR.
• Must be available Saturdays.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop and crouch repeatedly for extended periods of time.
• Must be comfortable handling/walking dogs.
• Friendly demeanor!

Time Requirement & Schedule

PetSmart Adoption Events are held on select Saturdays from 11AM until 4PM. You may sign up for first shift, second shift, or for a full day.

First Shift : 11:00AM - 1:30PM
Second Shift : 1:30PM - 4:00PM
