Purpose: To operate Red Cross vehicles (Bus or Bloodmobile) that require a Class B CDL to and from active blood drives in the region.
Key responsibilities:
- Operate Red Cross vehicles that require a DOT CDL license
- Drive the vehicles to and from active blood drives while preparing and maintaining all relevant DOT paperwork and required credentials
- Operate generator as needed
- Communicate and share feedback and logistical information to Red Cross Staff
- Drive in a safe and responsible manner
Qualifications:
- Willingness to support Red Cross Mission
- Valid state commercial driver's license (Class B) - minimum 3 years driving experience with 1-year commercial driving experience; ability to possess and maintain valid DOT physical card, drug screen, and participation in random drug screen pool
- Familiarity with geographic area and driving routes
- Able to verify safe driving records with state or insurance
- Current car registration and insurance required if using own vehicle
- Experience to demonstrate reliability
Training:
- Orientation to American Red Cross
- Defensive driving on-line course
- On the job training, including approx. 12 hours of classroom DOT training and an official ARC road test
Time Commitment: 2-4 shifts per month
