The Compeer Youth Mentoring Program encourages youth who are at-risk of developing social, emotional, and behavioral issues to build self-confidence, self-reliance, and healthy relationships. This is achieved by involving them in one-to-one mentorships, innovative programs, and regular positive social contact. Youth are referred into the program by their therapists, school counselors, or case managers once all have agreed that the youth would greatly benefit from having a mentor. Matches are made with sensitivity to the interests and availability of the youth and the volunteer.
The Compeer Adult Program encourages individuals with a mental health diagnosis to build self-confidence, self-reliance, and healthy relationships by involving them in one-to-one friendships, innovative programs, and regular social contact. The Compeer Program is designed to help reduce the isolation and the feelings of loneliness experienced by many of our participants. Our goal at Compeer is to provide companionship, friendship, and the needed support system to help individuals feel more connected to the community. Participants are referred into the Compeer Program by their therapists, counselors, or case managers.More opportunities with Compeer Mentoring Program

Description
In the Compeer Youth Program: our community volunteers engage in supportive one-to-one mentorships with youth who are at-risk (ages 5 to 17). A mentor offers the gift of friendship, personal attention and encouragement, promoting self-confidence, self-reliance and healthy social engagement.
In the Adult Compeer Program: a volunteer has the unique opportunity to provide companionship and social support for an individual receiving mental health services. A Compeer friendship match helps to reduce the isolation and feelings of loneliness experienced by many of our program participants.
