Organization: Colorado Springs Food Rescue is a non-profit organization whose mission is to cultivate a healthy, equitable food system in the greater Colorado Springs community. We believe in building healthier communities by way of a healthier food system.


Job Title: Board Chair

Reports to: Board of Directors


Job Description: Colorado Springs Food Rescue (CSFR) is seeking an approachable, visionary and collaborative individual with prior leadership experience to serve as Board Chair. The ideal candidate will facilitate continued efforts as CSFR prepares for sizable strategic growth.


Responsibilities:


  1. Strategic & Financial Planning
  1. Engage in strategic planning & development.
  2. Plan & facilitate annual board retreat.
  3. Alongside executive committee, ensure good financial standing of the organization.
  4. Be a role model in fundraising efforts.
  5. The board chair serves as its signing officer. This designation gives the authority to sign documents, such as contracts, checks and credit applications, on behalf of the organization.

  1. Board Oversight
  1. Motivate others to become involved.
  2. Ask board members to donate to the organization on a yearly basis.
  3. Assist in board recruitment and onboarding.

III. Meeting Attendance

  1. Preside over the Executive Committee meeting during the first Monday of each month at 5PM.
  2. Preside over the board meeting every second Tuesday of each month at 5:30PM
  1. Executive Director
  1. Liaison between Executive Director and board of directors.
  2. Accompany the ED on "asks" and funder interviews as needed.
  1. Community Engagement
  1. Represent CSFR in public events.
  2. Cultivate relationships that will benefit the work of CSFR.

Qualifications:


  1. Previous experience facilitating group meetings and/or board meetings.
  2. Passion for cultivating a healthy, equitable food system in the greater Colorado Springs community.
  3. Previous leadership experience on a board.
  4. At least 1 year of experience in the nonprofit sector (including but not limited to volunteering, board service, employment, etc.).
  5. Interpersonal acumen.

Food to Power is a non-profit organization whose goal is to create a more just and less wasteful food system. We facilitate the sustainable redistribution of food "waste" to agencies that feed hungry, homeless, and low-income populations while educating communities about and advocating for food justice and the reduction of structural poverty.

Description

Food to Power functions through a volunteer based direct redistribution programming, picking up food that would otherwise be thrown out and delivering that food directly to an organization that will disperse that food to those in need. These volunteers mainly deliver the food by bicycle.
