Seeking a Coach and Assistant Coaches for Girls on the Run at Navajo Elementary in Albuquerque.
The Head Coach is a volunteer position that works with a team of coaches to facilitate the Girls on the Run(r) curriculum to program participants. This position works closely with the Council Director and entails approximately 4 hours per week with possible time required on two to three weekend days for: a one day training; a community race event; and for First Aid/CPR training, if necessary.
The Assistant Coach is a volunteer position that assists the Head Coach(s) at a Girls on the Run program site. The position entails approximately 2 hours per week for 10 weeks. While the Assistant Coach is not responsible for facilitating the Girls on the Run curriculum, they are there to support the Head Coach and program participants in many ways.
Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program that inspires girls in 3 rd through 5th grade to be joyful, healthy and confident. The ten-week program teaches critical life skills, encourages personal development and fosters team building and community service. Volunteer coaches utilize a curriculum to engage teams of girls in fun, interactive lessons. Girls on the Run Rio Grande serves girls at 7 sites in Bernalillo and Valencia counties and is need of assistant coaches to ensure that 100+ girls will have an opportunity to participate in this transformative program this season.

Description
At Girls on the Run we inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through our research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-5th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.
