Tuck-In VolunteersMake weekly telephone calls to check on patients/families to assess their needs.
Looking for an opportunity to serve others in your community? Brookdale Hospice is the place for you to give comfort, support, and companionship to individuals as they near the end of their life.
How you can help:
Helping others as they near the end of their lives is a profoundly moving experience. Check-in/Tuck-in Volunteers place weekly phone calls to check on patients/families to assess any needs, whether that be for supplies, spiritual support, emotional support, or being in need of a visit. These weekly volunteer tuck-ins allow patients and families to express their needs and our hospice team to address this need right away. Tuck-in volunteers play a pivitol role in assuring our patient's needs are addressed early on each week, and make sure our patients are set-up for success over the weekend.
Where you can help:
This volunteer role will primarily take place at the Brookdale Hospice Chicago office, located in Rolling Meadows. From this location, you will be able to make phone calls using our office phone and connect with our staff directly to share patient needs.
If you are interested in direct patient care, please take a look at our other postings!
We would love to hear from you! For more information please contact:

Description
What is Hospice?
Hospice is a philosophy of care focused on comfort and quality of life at the end of life. It is designed to treat the whole person emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically by providing comfort and support to patients and their families when a life-limiting illness no longer responds to cure-oriented treatments. As part of the process, family members also receive care and support - all provided by a team of specially trained professionals and volunteers.
Hospice volunteers are members of the community who have special interest in hospice and will receive specialized training in serving hospice patients.
How you can help:
Helping others as they near the end of their lives is a profoundly moving experience. Whether it is reading a book out loud with a patient, engaging in conversation, listening to music, or styling hair and painting a patient's nails, Brookdale Hospice welcomes volunteers to utilize their personal interests and unique skillsets. If direct contact with patients is not for you, keep in mind there are many ways to help as a volunteer, such as clerical work, light housekeeping, letter writing, and assisting at events.
