Being a Hospice Volunteer can happen in so many ways...

  • Providing Companionship and Socialization for a patient in their home
  • Help with light housework (Example: laundry, walking a dog or pulling weeds)
  • Keeping a patient company so that their caregiver can run errands or just have a break
  • Grocery shopping/Running errands
  • Play cards, watch movies, read a book to a patient
  • So many more options
There are lots of opportunities and we work with you to match you with someone that would work best for what you are looking for. Here are a few examples of different types of patients and situations that you may want to volunteer for. Patients living in home by themselves Patients living in home with family/caregivers Patients living in a group home or assisted living Patients that are able to communicate and share life stories Patients that are bed bound and non-communicative (This would be a situation where maybe you are providing relief for a caregiver to run errands by just staying with them). Application Process:
1. Fill out Application (I can mail, email or fax it to you) 2. Bring in the Application and do a Urine Drug test in the office 3. We will start the background process (Online), once that comes back... 4. Get fingerprinted (we give you the paperwork and let you know where to go) 5. After all of this is complete, we will do a brief orientation and the online training can be assigned 6. Get you out there seeing patients and changing lives!!!! All costs incurred with testing, background and fingerprinting is covered by us. The process is the same we do for employees since we need to ensure the safety of our patients and volunteers. Please call if you have any questions at all.

Mission Statement

The mission of Comfort Hospice Care is to provide the highest quality of care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We seek to provide unified care, not only to the patient, but to the entire family as well. We strive to provide comfort, peace, dignity and individuality.

Description

Comfort Hospice Care is a Medicare and Medicaid certified hospice agency that has been providing life-changing service to patients in Southern Nevada since 2002. We believe that caring for the sick and elderly is a privilege, and treat each of our patients with the dignity and respect that we would give to our own family. This means customizing our approach in caring for our clients to meet the personal and unique needs that each of them and their loved ones face. Our commitment to Life-Changing Service does not end with our patients or their loved ones. This mission is evident in the way we serve our communities, and in the way we treat our staff and volunteers. Simply put, Life-Changing Service is in our DNA.
