Join Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity as a Homeowner Services Volunteer!

Asheville Area Habitat is seeking an individual who feels a connection to our mission, is warm and welcoming, has great computer skills, and who is flexible to tackle a variety of administrative support tasks in the Homeowner Services department. Homeowner Services Volunteers will commit to one 4-hour shift each week and will gain experience in administrative duties for mortgage loan origination process, outreach, affiliate messaging, customer service, determining eligibility based on program criteria, tracking outcomes and efforts, and researching public records.

Duties are as follows:

For Homeownership

Check voicemail (VM), and add caller’s information to VM log / return calls when caller is asking for general information. If caller asks for application to be mailed- send cover letter and application to the caller and add their information to homeowner services database.

For Home Repair s:

Check VM, and add caller’s information to VM log / return calls when caller is asking for general information.

When caller requests application: research and print property record, print and mail cover letter & application, and add all information to homeowner services database.

Other duties:

Print and compile documents for HO application packets

Assist Selection Specialist with information sessions on and off property

Contact applicants who have submitted incomplete applications

Send no response letters and update/maintain accurate database

Update frequently used forms and documents as needed

Volunteers may be asked to use Microsoft Access, Word, Excel and Outlook, in addition to city and county websites for public records research such as Buncombe County Tax Lookup, Register of Deeds, or Simplicity.
