We are seeking individuals who have an interest in becoming a REST Companion (Respite Education and Support Tools) to assist caregivers in Bloomingdale Township.

Interested individuals will provide respite (a short break) for someone who is caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities, those who are aging, and/or those using mental health services.

*REST Companions, must be residents of Bloomingdale Township, attend a 4 hour or 8-hour REST Companion training, and agree to provide at least 8 hours of respite per month for one year.

Description

Marklund is a not-for-profit network of services providing a full life experience for infants, children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Marklund provides compassionate medical care, comprehensive therapeutic programming, education, early intervention therapies and respite care for individuals with developmental disabilities.

There are currently three locations:
Marklund at Mill Creek Campus in Geneva (6-16 bed homes and developmental training program for adults with developmental disabilities and our administrative offices)
Marklund Philip Center for Children in Bloomingdale (residential skilled nursing facility for children and medically fragile adults, day school for children age 3-22, respite program, early intervention program)
Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin (residential skilled nursing facility for children and young adults, developmental training program for adults with developmental disabilities)

Since our founding in 1954, over 1,700 families have turned to Marklund to care for their loved ones. Volunteers have a direct impact on the individuals we serve by making it possible for them to live full and happy lives.
