ORGANIZATION: Travelers Aid Society of San Diego


Flexible opportunity to help increase the mobility of nearby low-income seniors (60 years or older) by providing rides for those without other means of transportation. Volunteer drivers will earn a $12 (per round-trip ride) vehicle stipend when providing a local senior a ride or rides. Eligible locations include doctor's offices, grocery and other stores, churches, or social events; just about anywhere a senior wants to go.

Drivers must show proof of current car registration and insurance, and have had a valid driver's license for at least five years.

Travelers Aid provides information & referral services to visitors, seniors, and to homeless individuals. Free transportation options are provided to low-income seniors. Case Management, transportation assistance, and family reunification services are provided to domestic violence victims, homeless individuals families, and to runaways. The organization recruits volunteers for the San Diego County Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, for Tourism Ambassadors, and Volunteer Drivers for low-income seniors.
