Service Platoon Picture

Join us as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy of service by continuing our service to the youth of Cleveland.

The Challenge: The Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland encourage children and their parents to take books home to read. They found that children wouldn't take books on regular bookcases and that they would take them if left on a table, but it was always a mess!

The Solution: A small bookcase easily positioned for children and parents to access it.

The Task: The platoon will be constructing small bookcases for several of the clubs around the city to use for the free books being offered to children and their parents!

The Motivation:"Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love." - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Mission Statement

We are on a mission to connect veterans with under-resourced communities: empowering veterans to continue their service, while empowering communities with the talent, skills and preparedness of veterans to generate visible impact.

Description

The Mission Continues is a national, nonpartisan nonprofit that empowers veterans to continue their service, and empowers communities with veteran talent, skills and preparedness to generate visible impact.

Veterans possess the drive and desire to serve others, but without access to the tools needed, their potential to make meaningful impact at the local level remains untapped. On the other end of the spectrum growing numbers of communities in this country are under-resourced and being left behind.

At The Mission Continues, we’re on a mission to connect veterans with under-resourced communities.

Our programs in cities across the country deploy veteran volunteers alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, increase access to parks and green spaces, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Our vision is for all veterans with a desire to continue their service to be part of a movement to transform communities.
