American Red Cross volunteer leaders work to ensure the delivery of a variety of Red Cross programs and services to the military community.
Requirements:
- Willingness to support the Red Cross mission.
- Manage and serve in advisory capacity.
- Depending upon the position, responsibilities may include.
> Promoting Red Cross programs and activities.
> Recruiting and assigning volunteers to meet a variety of community needs.
> Ensuring ample volunteers to support the emergency communications & family follow up mission.
> Coordinate and schedule required volunteer training.
> Maintaining volunteer program records.
> Oversee fundraising and ensure adherence to Red Cross policy.
> Providing support to Red Cross instructors and facilitators.
> Liaise with military authorities on installation disaster preparedness and response.
> Maintaining volunteer records; reporting and tracking volunteer hours.
> Overseeing volunteer recognition events.
> Attending a variety of volunteer and installation meetings.
Qualifications:
Dependent upon leadership position, qualifications may include:
- Knowledge of military protocol and culture; Knowledge of community resources.
- Ability to work effectively with a team.
- Ability to recruit and involve volunteers.
- Strong communication skills, oral and written.
- Basic computer skills.
- Supervisory skills; ability to resolve local volunteer issues.
- Knowledge of Red Cross structure.
Training Provided by the Red Cross:
- Orientation to the American Red Cross.
- Volunteer Connection Orientation.
- HIPAA training (as required).
- Computer, safety, and security training (if required).
- Supervisory/management training.
- All appropriate in-service training determined by supervisor.
