Summary:

The Girls Who Code (GWC) Club volunteer will aide in the facilitation of the Girls Who Code program. It is a club for elementary girls to build sisterhood, gain confidence and learn about the world of coding and tech.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in facilitating the GWC Club on Saturday mornings (10:30 AM - 12:30 PM)
  • Checking girls in and out of the club each week
  • Prep specialized supplies needed for activities or guests
  • Other tasks assigned
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
  • Must have worked with children
  • Must have a passion for or interest in coding
  • Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner
  • Must be dependable and punctual
  • Be courteous and personable when dealing with the public
  • Be patient, understanding, and helpful with children
  • Be comfortable addressing crowds
Training and Experience Requirements:
  • All volunteers will be given specific training on facilitating the club.
  • No prior coding experience is necessary, but willingness to learn.
  • Able to works Saturdays
Shifts:
  • Shifts are 2 hours on Saturday mornings (10:30am-12:30pm) from Sept 14th-Nov 23rd
Age Requirement:
  • 16 years or older, high school or college students preferred.
  • If you are under the age of 18, a parent’s signature will be required.

The Leonardo is a non-profit community-powered museum which opened in 2011.

Once home to the Salt Lake City Public Library, The Leonardo’s downtown location has served the people of the Wasatch Front for nearly 50 years. The Leo is tremendously proud to carry on the legacy of community learning and invites you to become a part of our unique community powered museum experience.
