Poverty reduction, Education and Family empowerment in Rwanda’s (PREFER) mission is to offer quality education to all children, regardless of the family income. To empower families to become productive members of society.
Description
PREFER is located in the north province of Rwanda, at the foothills of the Volcanoes National Park.
PREFER has operated a preschool with 150 children in 4 classrooms, since 2007. 2019 will be the opening of a primary school. Volunteers are valued for both their teacher training sessions and their help in the classrooms. Besides preschool and primary classes we offer Adult Education classes in the afternoons.
PREFER builds houses for vulnerable families as well as installing solar into homes. As of December 2018 we have completed 45 homes and installed solar to 38 homes.
