Are you a licensed mental health provider passionate about serving at-risk populations in your community? Your one hour of support* can change someones life. Join Us at Give an Hour to start making an impact today.
Become a Give an Hour Provider:
*Volunteer providers are licensed mental health professionals who set aside one session per week for one year for a free client in the population(s) of their choice, starting with the military population. Services may be provided by phone, in person or using HIPAA compliant telehealth platform (provided at no charge).
In addition to direct counseling, Give an Hour’s providers work to reduce the stigma associated with mental health treatment and encourage care for our mental well-being and the mental well-being of others. Licensed volunteers may also opt to participate in other methods of support such as support groups, supporting emotionally impactful events, outreach to professional networks, speaking opportunities and more. A provider is NOT required to give clinical care to serve with Give an Hour, however all providers are encouraged to participate by giving their expertise.
Not all mental health professionals will have a client all year, and not all providers choose to give therapy hours as their time! Many different types of providers sign up to work with GAH, but all must be licensed to provide therapy.
The commitment is flexible and Give an Hour works with you to ensure you are receiving the information, training and tools to be successful including:
- Free Continuing Education
- Free and discounted tools such as Therapy Notes, ReGroup Therapy virtual platform, listing on major referral sources
- Free opportunities to connect with experts and professionals in your area of interest
Healing Begins with YOU

Mission Statement
Give an Hour’s mission is to develop national networks of volunteers capable of responding to both acute and chronic conditions that arise within our society. By harnessing the skill and expertise of volunteer professionals, we are able to increase the likelihood that those in need receive the support and care they deserve.
Description
We believe that within our communities we have the resources to address many of the challenges that face our society. These challenges, such as time in military service or victims of crime, often result in emotional pain and suffering. Since 2005 we have focused on providing free mental health care to active duty, National Guard and Reserve service members, veterans, and their families. In 2015, Give an Hour launched the Campaign to Change Direction, a public health effort designed to change the culture of mental health so that those who are suffering emotionally are better able to seek and receive care. In 2016, we began expanding our efforts to address the mental health needs of other populations. Presently, we are seeking mental health professionals to serve multiple populations.
