About All The Way Up Adult Education Center

Location:

407 Broad St., Newark, NJ 07104, US

Mission Statement

All The Way Up Adult Education Center helps students discover their potential through educational activities, supportive personal relationships, career preparation, and computer literacy training. The organization provides a positive, engaging, and safe environment in Newark through small-group tutoring, allowing students to progress at their own pace. ATWU gives students educational opportunities to help them get to a place where they are ready to seek better employment and/or to continue on to a certificate training program or college. Staff and tutors stand ready to engage and inspire. Not only students but also their families and Newark itself will benefit from the ability of students to reach their potential.

Description

All The Way Up Adult Education Center offers accessible education to the underserved communities of Newark, and, through small-group tutoring sessions, provides classes in GED Preparation,, Adult Basic Education (ABE), and ESL Classes. Occasional seminars in job readiness and computer literacy are also offered. In a city that continues to become more gentrified, employs people who mostly live outside of Newark, and where 30% of residents lack a high-school diploma, ATWU advocates for individuals for whom education is a life-and-death matter. Greater educational opportunities lead to better jobs, a living wage, and a more secure future for families in Newark.
