Our biomedical students appreciate your time and hope you consider volunteering with the Coon Rapids High School Biomedical Program!
The Human Body Systems class will complete this school year with a project on how to train a champion. Students will work in groups to determine how to best train a patient with preexisting medical conditions to safely participate in a marathon. Coon Rapids High School Biomedical Program is looking for college students, professionals, interns, or retired individuals in the field to participate by either working with small groups of students on their final project or providing feedback on final presentations.
Professionals in the field could include but are not limited to: physical therapists, rehabilitation specialists, nutritionists, physical trainers, college coaches, nurses, health engineers, doctors or any other individual who has had experience with rehabilitation or training athletes.. or training as a higher athlete themselves.
If you love working with students or love what you do, CRHS Biomedical program needs your help! Last year students absolutely raved about the feedback and support they received from professionals. Currently CRHS biomedical students have limited scope about potential career paths and this also gives them a better idea of what they might choose to study when they leave high school.
Tuesday May 28th or Wednesday May 29th
Science or health background preferable: Volunteers will meet with small groups as they are putting final touches on their project. Volunteers provide students with specific feedback as it relates to properly and realistically training their non-athletic patient with preexisting health conditions. In a perfect world, these volunteers would be able to commit to a full day. Please know that CRHS Biomedical program appreciates that your time is precious and if this is the only day and part time might work, that can be arranged.
Full Day : 9:15-2:20 Lunch is provided by Subway
Half Day (tentative option): 9:15-11:40 or 12:10-2:20
Thursday May 30th or Friday May 31st
No science or health background needed! Volunteers will watch final presentations and then meet with small groups to comment on overall presentation skills and how persuasive they were as a group about getting the business of an average person. No preference on a full or half day, but please recognize that listening to student presentations ALL day requires a certain amount of patience. However, each group has different patients so that will help with the monotony of the task.
Half Day Morning 8:45 - 11:15
Half Day Afternoon 11:50-2:20
Full Day 8:45-2:20 Lunch will be provided by Subway
