Ever dream of opening your own school and creating a program where your voice truly matters... like, really matters. We are building a community based project and inviting the community to help design this new and first of its kind FREE Private school for girls. Our school's focus is on Entrepreneurship, Design Thinking and the Emotional Support that focuses on the whole child.

We are creating an important community based focus group at two locationsTwo Locations: 1/23 Malcolm X and 1/25 Oceanside (this event)

We are interested in hearing from families of middle school and high school girls their stories and ideas about what makes schools great and not so great, and how we can truly build something that matters to the community.

About SISU ACADEMY

Location:

2801 B STREET STE 586, SAN DIEGO, CA 92102, US

Mission Statement

Sisu Academy is the first all-girls tuition-free, boarding high school, with an embedded incubator fueled by entrepreneurs and seed capital creating an immersive learning environment that funds all operational costs. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit for public good working to bring innovative education to San Diego Students in need.

Description

Sisu is a four-grade high school that will enroll and house a total of 350 young women from the local community in Southern California. Providing an environment with wraparound support services for those in need, including healthy food, farming, project-based learning, skills training, STEAM education and counseling. All of these programs will be viewed through an entrepreneurial lens to address social and business-related challenges impacting both the students and the community at large. We will teach students to embrace failure as a catalyst for growth and future success. These efforts will also provide the revenue-creating structures allowing Sisu to sustain its model.

Enrollment at Sisu will be at no cost to the student. Program fit and a student’s need will be what matters. Although we are an independent school, we believe in continuing to support public education. Starting with a smaller freshman class of young women in the 2018-19 school year, each year we will add more students, reaching a full capacity of 350 students in five years. We are beginning as an all-girls school while leaving the door open for future projects that can also impact young men from our community.
