Look closer at this beautiful beach scene and you’ll see the problem: it’s full of cigarette butts, some of the worst litter offenders on our California beaches. In this case, the trash has been artfully transformed, but most of the time it lingers, winding up in the ocean and harming the ecosystem...unless we act! This Coastal Cleanup Day, be part of the solution to marine pollution and join the Sea Center for the largest garbage collection event in the world. Support your community, help clean up East Beach, and learn about the effects of marine debris on our oceans.
Registration: Please register for this event above as either an Individual or Group.
Waiver: All participants must complete a waiver on the day of the event. Those under the age of 18 must have a guardian sign the waiver and participate in the event with them.
Parking: Free street parking is available along Cabrillo Boulevard. Parking will be free in any City of Santa Barbara parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., when displaying a Coastal Cleanup Day volunteer parking lot voucher. This parking pass may be obtained from one of the beach captains. Carpooling and other sustainable means of transportation are encouraged.
Cleanup Supplies: Help us make this a zero-waste event by bringing reusable buckets and garden gloves if you can. The Sea Center provides plastic bags and gloves to participants.
Community Service Hours: Sea Center staff members will be present at the end of the event to sign off on service hours.
Note: The Coastal Cleanup Day East Beach is a rain or shine event. Cleanups are only canceled during extreme weather conditions.
