Beach Cleanup

Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 52 people are interested

Be part of the solution to marine pollution! Get some fresh air while you participate in a noble cause: collecting and categorizing litter. Collecting litter-on the beach, along waterways, and in neighborhoods with creeks and storm drains-keeps trash out of the ocean and protects the planet. Categorizing and counting what you find adds to data analyzed by scientists and used by policymakers. Use common sense; wear protective gear if needed and maintain distance with people outside your household.

Here are the supplies you will need:

  • Bag or bucket
  • Gloves or trash grabber
  • Ocean Conservancy's PDF to report what you collected. You can also download the Clean Swell app on your smartphone to go paperless!
If you don't have access to these supplies, please contact us and we will be happy to put together a beach cleanup kit for you for pickup at the Sea Center.
