Girls on the Run of the Greater Chesapeake is a life-changing, positive youth empowerment program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

We welcome enthusiastic, dedicated, and positive volunteers who are committed to empowering girls with valuable life lessons. Coaches are parents, teachers, school administrators, college students, and other community members who are committed to developing and celebrating our girls.

We have two requirements for our Community Coaches: commit to working with a group of girls for one or two practices a week throughout the 8-week season and bring energy and joy to each practice!

Apply to be a Community Coach here: https://www.gotrchesapeake.org/Coach

As a Community Coach, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • The Spring 2021 season begins the week of March 1 and ends with the Virtual 5K on Saturday, April 24th (site-based 5Ks will also be taking place following guidelines for in-person teams).
  • All new Community Coaches must attend online training prior to coaching. Training is self-paced starting in mid-January.
  • You are committing to volunteer 60 - 75 minutes, two times per week for the 8-week season.

Over the course of the ten-week program, offered in both fall and spring, girls develop essential life skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness.
