ORGANIZATION: LA WORKS RSVP

LAWORK_RSVP

The Community Veteran Justice Project (CVJP) is dedicated to ensuring current and former military service members receive the information, support, and services they need to use California's Veteran Statutes to improve their lives. CVJP provides specific services, policy advocacy, and community education to assist justice-involved service members/veterans with obtaining alternative sentencing for some felonies, and diversion for misdemeanor cases. This can result in treatment rather than incarceration, some cases being dismissed, and records being sealed.

Position: We are looking for a passionate board coach with executive-level nonprofit management and training experience. The right candidate will know what it takes to organize and help us build a strong committed active board to utilize their strengths and connections to the community we serve. We need our board to help raise sustainable funds for a sustainable staff and help our project grow and develop to it's full potenital. Develop long range and short term business plan.

Responsibilities: Meet as necessary to discuss strategy and ongoing board concerns to increase the efficacy of their efforts. Work with the Executive Director on best practices for board development. Establish corporate sponsorship and fundraising efforts to grow CJVP’s impact on veterans.

Qualifications: Previous experience serving on a nonprofit board, and previous experience in board coaching required. A good network of contacts in corporate sponsorships a plus. Ability to communicate clearly and be task oriented.
