Milwaukee Children's Choir

Seeking an individual with a background in accounting, budgeting and cash flow. The basics:

✰ Review financial reporting documents and advise the Board.

✰ Knowledge of P&l and Quickbooks.

✰ Recommend improvements and monitor the progress of planning.

✰ Nonprofit experience and passion for performing arts a plus.

✰ Candidate will serve as a member of our Board of Directors. This is an unpaid, volunteer position.


Details:
The Treasurer oversees all financial aspects for the Board of Directors, including publishing monthly reports to the Board regarding income and expenses to date, versus budget and projections for the year. The Treasurer works with the Executive Artistic Director and the bookkeeper to ensure revenue and expenses are properly classified into the correct budget categories. The Treasurer also participates in the Finance Committee and serves as the committee chairman.

Each year, starting in March/April, the Treasurer begins preparation of the budget for the following fiscal year (Jul-Jun). The Treasurer works with the Executive Artistic Director to populate the known or expected revenue and expense items for the upcoming season, seeking to produce a balanced or slightly profitable budget. The Treasurer then presents the draft budget to the Board for review at the May meeting for any questions, suggestions or adjustments. A final draft of the budget is then presented at the June meeting for a vote in time for the upcoming fiscal year. The Treasurer will then update the Board throughout the fiscal year, reviewing actuals versus goals. The Treasurer will also coordinate with the Execute Artistic Director and bookkeeper on conducting the annual audit. He/she will also coordinate the filing of the 990 with the IRS.

Description

Milwaukee Children’s Choir is Southeastern Wisconsin’s premier youth choir. Since 1994, Milwaukee Children’s Choir has been delighting audiences and providing children, ages 6-18, with exceptional choral music education and performance experiences that foster creativity, personal expression and social growth.

As an audition-based, advanced children’s choral music program, Milwaukee Children’s Choir maintains five levels of evening choir choral education for children from 1st-12th grades. Offering rehearsal locations throughout the Greater Milwaukee and Lake Country areas, the Children’s Choir incorporates children from throughout the whole of Southeastern Wisconsin. Milwaukee Children’s Choir also serves children during the school day at Milwaukee Public Schools through our Harmony Program.
