Description: Urban Voices Project is a community outreach and engagement initiative that brings the healing power of music directly to individuals disenfranchised by homelessness, mental health issues, and unemployment. Community singing, and music education combine to provide practical opportunities for individuals to transcend their current circumstances and participate in a creative program of positive change throughout LA County.

Position: Pro Bono Operations Manager Opportunity. Do you have a background in HR or operations? Have you held that position for a nonprofit (or business)? Urban Voices Project is an emerging LA based nonprofit operating in DTLA. They need help with developing best practices around employment benefits and organizational liability insurance. This allows them to continue making an impact on the ever-growing population experiencing homelessness in DTLA. If this interests you and you want to leave a lasting legacy on the nonprofit world in LA, please read further and express interest below.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess organization’s insurance needs and identify appropriate liability insurance options Assess current keeping system/practices
  • Lead develop of a process for updating those systems
  • Implement and lead staff on organizational operations best practices
Qualifications:
  • HR or operations background
  • Experience in the nonprofit world ideal
  • Able to relay information and train paid staff on best practices

Works is a federally funded program free to members, with the mission of mobilizing 55 and older volunteers for a large variety of projects with nonprofits all over Los Angeles.   3. EDUCATE and encourage people to engage in the broader social issues affecting the greater Los Angeles Community.
OUR IMPACT

Tens of thousands of committed volunteers together with thousands of civic, nonprofit, and business partners have enabled L.A. Works to make a significant, visible, and lasting contribution to Los Angeles.

Since 1991, L.A. Works has mobilized and led volunteers to contribute over a million hours to Los Angeles through unique volunteer programming, which has included:

  • Serving meals and preparing emergency food provisions for over 425,000 homeless and low-income individuals;
  • Providing educational and enrichment activities for over 65,000 disadvantaged youth;
  • Revitalizing schools, parks, and community centers for more than 200,000 volunteer hours;
  • Offering companionship to seniors and friendship to abused and homeless women for more than 20,000 volunteer hours;
  • Conserving, cleaning, and restoring urban and natural environments in and around Los Angeles for more than 75,000 volunteer hours;
  • Caring for animals in shelters and sanctuaries at over 1,200 volunteer projects; and
  • Training more than 900 Angelenos in the project and volunteer management.
