Cleveland Botanical Garden is a year-round, educational oasis in the city where students can explore unusual plants, different ecosystems, plant and animal interactions, and beautiful gardens. We use discovery-based and hands-on education to encourage students of all ages to ask questions, use the natural world for answers, and hone their observation skills.

Volunteers who are willing to share their excitement about plants and the amazing natural world around us with students are needed to serve as School Guides. No green thumb or science background is required, just a passion for science, enjoying and appreciating nature, and making a difference in the lives of local pre-K and elementary school students.

Our School Guide positions are available weekdays and weekends (primarily mornings). We have flexibility in scheduling, and the typical volunteer shifts is about 1.5 hours. School Guides are asked to volunteer a minimum of 2-3 times a month. Volunteer orientation and onboarding is required; training and shadowing for the position is provided upon acceptance as a volunteer.
