Many older people are able and wanting to live independently in their own home. This is cost effective for the person; however, it can cause isolation as well. Having a volunteer to visit the client encourages socialization and participation between the two. Weekly, this partnership may engage in games, dancing, exercising, reading and TV. The volunteer must promote a verbal conversations.
We need eight (8) volunteers that are age 55 and above to visit Meal on Wheels client(s) for 1 hour per week for 6 months. Each volunteer will be assigned 4 clients.
The volunteer must pass the National Service Criminal History Check requirements before serving. There is a training period as well. Once the volunteer has passed the requirements, he/she will receive a monthly stipend.More opportunities with Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
