The Baltimore Humane Society is looking for an Events Liaison Volunteer to help us manage our growing calendar of off-site events. Off-site events help BHS to build its reputation within the greater Baltimore area as a resource for finding adoptable animals, humane education, and low-cost spay/neuter services. It is also an opportunity to generate donations, volunteers, and BHS merchandise sales.

Event Liaison Volunteer Responsibilities and Duties

The Event Liaison Volunteer will work with a team of BHS staff, volunteers, and external event hosts to assist BHS in holding meaningful and engaging offsite events that are staffed by volunteers. While this position will require the Event Liaison Volunteer to be present at the Baltimore Humane Society at times, they will be primarily working remotely.

  • Create and distribute event listing pages on local websites.
  • Conduct event preparation (such as packing event bags) at the Baltimore Humane Society. Bags include fliers, merchandise which will require tracking for inventory and resupplying as needed.
  • Work with Baltimore Humane Society staff to respond to and schedule proposed off-site events.
  • Be on call to assist volunteers and event hosts with questions and concerns during the day of events, typically on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Track event performance areas and identify items to work on for future events
  • Maintain a working relationship with host venues, volunteers, marketing department, and volunteer manager
  • Be available to assist with major events on the day of and be available to assist volunteers during weekend adoption events.
Event Liaison Volunteer Qualifications and Skills
  • Creative problem solver with strong communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and with a team of BHS staff and volunteers
  • Experience coordinating events
  • Outgoing "people person"
  • An understanding of sales and public relations
  • Familiarity with Google Suite Products (Gmail, calendar, Google docs)

Description

Since its founding in 1927 by Elsie Seeger Barton, the Humane Society of Baltimore County has provided for the care of suffering and homeless animals. Situated on 365 acres of land held in trust for the Humane Society, it operates an animal shelter, a spay/neuter center, a pet cemetery, and a 345-acre wildlife sanctuary. The Humane Society is dependent on donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations, and income from fundraising events to support animal care operations.We are a private, non-profit, volunteer based organization.
