Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) MEPS Lead volunteers work closely with the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) Command to determine the best means to connect with and support military recruits and their families. MEPS Lead volunteers manage the outreach program that provides recruits and their families with information to assist them in knowing what to do if faced with an emergency. Lead volunteers are also responsible for training and scheduling fellow MEPS volunteers, processing Family Contact Cards, and managing the relationship between the MEPS Command and the Red Cross.

All training for this position is provided by the American Red Cross. Qualifications include:

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
  • Ability to work with and lead a team
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Recommended: Knowledge/experience with the military

Volunteers are needed about 4 hours per week during business hours. Some tasks may need to be completed in the evening. Volunteers are able to work from home or in the office.
