The Advocacy Chair serves as the primary lead for recruiting Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM) members throughout the Walk planning process and updates committee on advocacy opportunities. The AIM-Advocacy Chair will assemble a sub-committee to recruit new AIM members and advocates from all sectors of the community. This individual must have knowledge of and interest in Alzheimer's Association and AIM legislative priorities. Strong communication and presentation skills. Must understand and be comfortable communicating the role of AIM activities as the advocacy arm of the Alzheimer's Association. Must be able to delegate tasks and work hand in hand with other committee members and Alzheimer's Association staff

Description

The Kingsport office is part of the Alzheimer's Association's Tennessee Chapter that serves 85 counties in Tennessee and Virginia with offices in Nashville, Memphis, Johnson City, Chattanooga and Knoxville. Since 1980, the Chapter has provided reliable information and care consultation; created supportive services for families; increased funding for dementia research; and influenced public policy changes. Today, the Tennessee Chapter serve the over 120,000 affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias as well as the over 140,000 people involved as caregivers.
