Description
In the state of North Carolina, North Carolina A&T State University (N.C. A&T) serves as the Affiliate Partner for FIRST LEGO League & FIRST Tech Challenge STEM robotics programs. These programs are managed from within the College of Engineering by Dr. Kory Bennett, the AP Representative. As the AP, N.C. A&T serves as the primary contact in the region and is responsible for the strategic growth and management of the programs in North Carolina.
FIRST LEGO League introduces young students, ages 9-14, to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO MINDSTORMS technology-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. The students create innovative solutions for challenges facing today’s scientists as part of their research project. FIRST Tech Challenge is designed for students in grades 7-12, to compete using a sports model. FTC teams, of up to 10 students, are responsible for designing, building, and programming their robots for competition.
