Kindred Hospice's Team provides compassionate end of life care to residents of Blair, Bedford, Cambria, Huntingdon, and Centre counties as well as parts of Clearfield, Somerset, Indiana, and Fulton counties.
To help provide care and support that reflect the important contributions made by the courageous men and women who served our country, Kindred Hospice is a national Partner of We Honor Veterans, a pioneering campaign developed by National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs. By recognizing the unique needs of our nation’s Veterans who are facing a life-limiting illness, Kindred is better able to accompany and guide Veterans and their families toward a more peaceful ending. And in cases where there might be some specific needs related to the Veteran’s military service, combat experience or other traumatic events, Kindred will find tools to help support those they are caring for.
A strong support this program provides is the Veteran-to-Veteran Volunteer program. This volunteer role is for a Veteran/Military volunteer interested in providing direct patient care hours through friendly visits 1:1 with our hospice patients in the Martinsburg/Roaring Spring area. Some examples of responsibilities may include reading, socialization, companionship, emotional support, crafts, watching tv with the patient, etc. *All onboarding expenses are paid by Kindred.*
