ORGANIZATION: CENTER OF HELP INC

  • 12 people are interested

The Center of Help's newest program, the Maria de la Paz Youth Outreach Center seeks to provide activities that will help youth to feel safe, emotionally stable, and engaged. The program provides a safe community for youth to address everyday stressors, possible emotional or behavioral concerns, and other challenges that come with adolescence while strengthening their creative expression, academic skills, exploring STEM and vocational topics, and building character.
Volunteers have the opportunity to work directly with youth ages 12 to 17 from adverse backgrounds as a tutor, mentor, and/or assistant teacher, and ideally volunteer on a regular schedule, at least 30 min per week between the hours of 3:15 and 6:45 pm Monday through Friday. Mentors can specialize in career-focused, academic-focused, or character-focused mentoring, and will receive ongoing training from staff. A background check, application, and a 1.5 hour volunteer training required. Minors may volunteer as peer mentors. Contact Kirsten Clark, program director, at kclark@centerofhelp.org or 443-254-7313.
