Help the Disadvantaged and Low Income Population Find Work in Orange County
Chrysalis is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment. The men and women who turn to Chrysalis often have multiple barriers to finding employment including homelessness, limited education, criminal records and substance abuse issues. Since 1984, we have assisted over 51,000 people on the path to self-sufficiency at three centers throughout Los Angeles County where poverty and homelessness are most pervasive: Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Anaheim (Orange County)and Pacoima in the San Fernando Valley.
Chrysalis volunteers facilitate job preparation classes and help individuals facing significant barriers to employment build resumes and practice their interview skills. Not only do volunteers play an integral role in empowering clients to build crucial job search skills, they instill the self-esteem needed to succeed in the interview and beyond. We are currently seeking volunteers (bilingual Spanish-speakers, especially) to provide services at our office in the San Fernando Valley.
All Chrysalis volunteers will be required to attend an informational session, receive training and ongoing evaluation, agree to confidentiality terms, and commit to a weekly or bi-weekly schedule. Volunteers must be able commit to a minimum of 2 hours per shift during our office hours: Monday-Thursday from 8am-4pm and Friday from 8am-12pm.

Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment. Since 1984, Chrysalis has assisted over 51,000 men and women regain their dignity and becoming self-sufficient through employment opportunities. Chrysalis operates three centers that are located where homelessness and poverty are most pervasive: on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and in the Pacoima area of the San Fernando Valley. Chrysalis' philosophy is that a steady job is the single most important step in a person's transition out of poverty and onto a pathway to long-term self-sufficiency. Through one-on-one Case Management, access to job-seeking resources and supportive services provided by volunteers, Chrysalis offers a hand up, rather than a hand out, to empower its clients to complete a self-directed job search.
Chrysalis assists homeless and low-income individuals in securing employment by providing a program of classes on job search skills, job search resources (including computers, phones, resume assistance, etc.), and one on one case management with an Employment Specialist.
