We are in search of volunteers who are able to facilitate an afterschool club that’s focus is to close the gender gap in technology by equipping young girls and women with computing and professional skills. We are looking for individuals who will be committed and able to helping exposing these girls’ real-life mentorships. Building relationships where they are able to learn both the world of computer science but also gain the friendship of others.

During the program each week, the provided curriculum will walk the instructors through projects related to computer science, such as art, storytelling, robotics, video games, web sites, and apps. There will also be an occasional guest speaker, opportunities to participate in workshops, and the chance to connect with female engineers and entrepreneurs.

Our main goal is to bring girls grades 3rd through 5th and 6th through 12th in as groups to teach them these skills but also to gain self-esteem, self-confidence, new friendships, and gain a safe place to go after school. We want our volunteers to have a love for children, be committed to this project, understand that there is no need for experience in the field of computer science, and that we really appreciate all the help we can get to make this a successful club for these girls.
