Mission Statement

To improve lives in our community by providing education about, and access to, the lifesaving technology of breast thermal imaging.

Description

Beyond Pink is a local educational and fundraising charity that donates 100% of our net proceeds back to the Spokane, WA metro community. We provide grants to women (and men too) who might not otherwise be able to afford breast screening using thermal imaging. 10 years ago Beyond Pink started when two women, Karla Porter, and Charlie Brewer, met and discovered they both had lost loved ones to breast cancer. They decided to create an organization that celebrated the technology called Thermography and its powerful ability to aid in the early detection of breast disease. Thermography has been FDA approved since 1982 for medical screening of breast disease using infrared cameras. The procedure is painless and does not use radiation or compression. It allows us to see breast disease as much as 10 years before a mass can be seen on any other screening tool (including mammography). When breast disease is found at it's earliest stages, before a mass has formed, breast cancer can often be prevented by making lifestyle changes that can be monitored using Advanced Risk Assessment Thermal Imaging. Our primary source of funding is our Annual Fashion Show and Auction which takes place each fall. In 2018 we raised over $230,000. We rely heavily on our volunteers to help us execute not only our largest event of the year but several smaller events as well such as our May Luncheon, Summer Beer Garden and our Lunch and Learn programs which take place throughout the year at local businesses, churches, and community organizations.
