Are you looking to contribute your time and skills to helping the King County community? Do you have a passion for supporting opportunity youth and young adults? The Accelerator YMCA is the social services branch of the Y of Greater Seattle and we are currently recruiting for new board members! In 2018, our branch provided holistic support to 5,000 young people and their families who have experienced trauma from homelessness, foster care, juvenile justice or other systems to help them be safe, successful and happy. We are proudly the largest provider of housing to homeless young adults in King County.
Accelerator YMCA Board members contribute their talents, guidance and resources to strengthen the Y’s impact on youth in the community. Board members are involved in resource development, governance and oversight, along with strategic leadership of our organization. Board service provides opportunities to guide and steward programs improving the lives of young people. Board members gain professional and personal relationships along with the development of leadership skills.

The Accelerator YMCA helps young people be safe, successful and happy by providing a variety of programs that promote success, prevent harm, and enrich lives.
We provide a continuum of high impact programs for young people and their families that prevent harm, promote success and enrich lives. We share our successful approaches with other organizations to accelerate positive impact broadly, and beyond our YMCA.
Some of Acclerator programs include:
Get Engaged and PugetSoundOff programs equip the next generation of civic participants for employment through the development of media and media literacy skills, access to the newest digital technology, a youth art gallery and a thriving online blogging community. Participants have the opportunity to serve on city boards and commissions to further strengthen their voices and impact the community issues that matter most to them.
The Alive & Free Program: empowering youth and young adults to prevent and recover from violence and pursue their true potential
Family Services Mental Health: offering services that are strengths-based, individualized, client-driven, culturally-competent and community-based. Family Services Mental Health's vision is to support the well-being of families and communities, while developing spirit, mind and body.
