The Valentine Project is seeking a part-time, volunteer Social Media Associate to manage our Twitter account. The ideal candidate has social media experience and is passionate about helping children with chronic illnesses. The expected commitment is ~3 hours/week. About The Valentine Project

The Valentine Project is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit that sends gift packages to children with chronic illnesses and their siblings on Valentine’s Day. Currently operating in Ohio and Northern California, The Valentine Project recruits volunteers to make unique, personalized packages for each child that are then delivered to the child’s home. Our goal is to provide an unexpected smile to the children and families while offering the opportunity for volunteers to do good through a random act of kindness.

The Communications Team

The Valentine Project’s communications team focuses on engaging volunteers, donors, recipients, and other partners through email, earned and social media. We aim to spread messages of love, joy, and acceptance while providing all the information to make it easy for all parties to get involved. We strive to make our organization accessible to all children who can benefit from our services and include children from all backgrounds. It is the responsibility of the communications team to help our message reach all populations, especially low income communities and communities of color, and make our sign ups accessible for all.

Position Description

The Social Media Associate (Twitter) will report to the Director of Communications and work closely with the CEO while managing the Official Twitter account for The Valentine Project. This position will work remotely on a volunteer basis and will be expected to produce the following deliverables in about three (3) hours per week.

• Draft and send between two and six tweets per week from The Valentine Project’s Official Twitter account
• Monitor incoming mentions, likes, and retweets and respond when necessary
• Follow and interact with other users in ways that generate more activity for our account
• Work with communications team to keep public messaging coordinated across organization
