A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. At a BioBlitz, scientists, families, students, teachers, and other community members work together to get an overall count of the plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms that live in a place.
Come explore Kelley Park. Experience all of the cool creatures and plants that live right in your backyard.
Docents will guide you and teach you to use the iNaturalist app on your smartphone or tablet to record all the living things you encounter. Flowers, trees, butterflies, dragonflies, and beetles, birds, and squirrels. We love them all - now let's go find them!
And, if you don't want to bend over to see that spider, you can pick up a litter stick and bucket and collect the litter near the creek and in the park to keep it clean. Every little piece counts!
Note: Heavy rain cancels this event. We'll hold the event if we have light rain, which makes the event quite fun.
This event is co-hosted by Keep Coyote Creek Beautiful, Coyote Meadows Coalition & and the Santa Clara Valley Audubon.
Sponsor: Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority
Co-sponsors are City of San Jose, SJSU Center for Community Learning and Leadership, and CommUniverCity.
