What do you live to do? Playing games? Reminiscing? Gardening? We invite you to share your passion with our patients. Our Companion Volunteers provide socialization and companionship to our patients, their families, and their caregivers. Companion Volunteers assist patients and families with tasks such as sitting with the patient, running errands, light housework, or yard work, reading to the patient, and sharing your passions.
Companion volunteers are members of our patient’s local community. This relationship provides a feeling of normality for patients, as well as patients’ families and friends. Volunteers often connect with patients on a deep, personal level, which provides the hospice care team with valuable insights concerning the overall impact of the level of comfort and care that is provided.

Cypress Basin Hospice has been providing family-centered, quality end-of-life care to the communities of Northeast Texas since 1986. We emphasize compassion, dignity, independence, and respect throughout every asset of our care and for decades we have been the area’s premier not-for-profit, community-owned agency.
Our friendly and professional staff is dedicated to caring for individuals touched by life-limiting illness, grief, and loss. We offer a wide range of services to every patient and our hope is that we are able to relieve the physical, emotional, and spiritual pain patients and families are suffering from. Cypress Basin has a proven track record and will go above and beyond to ensure that you and your loved ones are always cared for to the highest degree. You can rest assured knowing that patients and families are being served by one of the oldest and most respected hospice programs in Mt. Pleasant, Paris, Sulphur Springs, and all of Northeast Texas.

- Volunteers are asked to commit for a minimum of one year after completing training. Companion Volunteers visit with their assigned patients 1-2x/month. Visits typically last one hour.
