Want a New Years Resolution you can stick to? Volunteer with Novant Health Hospice and help those during their end of life journey.
We have a lot to offer:
Patient support services
* Provide patient support to patients at home. Read, assist
with letter writing, keep a homebound patient company or
allow a caregiver a much needed break.
* Assist with various patient support services on the Harris
Hospice Unit, located at Novant Health Presbyterian
Medical Center.
* Offer emotional support to grieving family members by
calling on behalf of our bereavement team.
* Assist our care team by making Caring Connections calls
to our home patients, ensuring they have everything they
need prior to the weekend.
Giving gardens
* Collect and grow flowers.
* Make fresh bouquets.
* Collect and wash recycled vases.
* Deliver flowers to our new patients.
Music ministry
Play soothing, beautiful music for our patients and their
loved ones. This service can be done in the patient's home, in
our Harris Hospice Unit or in the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice
House located in Salisbury.
Pet therapy
Share the love you have for your furry friend with our
patients and their loved ones. All therapy dogs must be
certified and trained. This service can either be provided in
the patient's home, in the Harris Hospice Unit or in the
Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
Hospitality team
The hospitality groups provide lunch, snacks or dinners for
family members who are visiting loved ones at the Harris
Hospice Unit or the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. Families,
service groups and churches all find pleasure in providing
this extra layer of support to our families during this difficult
time. This service can be on occasion or recurring.
Administrative support services
Many administrative tasks can be done with volunteer
support, including the following:
* Assist with scanning medical records.
* Put together bereavement mailings.
* Create patient guides to hospice care.
* Assist with filing, organizing forms and other necessary
articles for staff.
We honor veterans
* Deliver special flower arrangements.
* Participate in the special pinning ceremony with the
hospice staff thanking the veteran for their service.
* Serve as a veteran-to-veteran volunteer.

Mission Statement
We the employees and physician partners will deliver the most remarkable patient experience in every dimension, every time.
Description
Providing care for a loved one who is sick and can no longer look after themselves can be one of the biggest challenges a family has to face. These conditions can arise from old age, severe illness or crippling injuries, but regardless of the cause, we believe that no family should have to face these challenges alone.
Our hospice services provide a wide range of services and care-giving that can help patients and their loved ones when it is needed the most. Comfort, compassion and dignity are at the forefront of the care we provide.
Our hospice care specialists provide care for terminally ill patients and their families. We know how sensitive these times may be, and our goal is to provide patients and their families with effective healthcare that will improve the quality of a patient’s last days.
We provide an individualized treatment plan to comfortably manage pain and physical symptoms of each need a patient may have. Our team is made of doctors, nurses, medical social workers, chaplains, grief counselors, and volunteers that work together to help patients live life as comfortably and fulfilled as possible.
