ShelterTech would like to invite you to join our Datathon volunteering event, where you will work side-by-side with our community representatives - people who are currently or have previously been homeless - to vet information and verify that the 1000+ services directed for low income and homeless community in our database (askdarcel.org) is correct. Think of AskDarcel almost as the application 'Yelp!’ for the homeless community, where case managers, city employees and people experiencing homelessness can find hundreds of housing, health, job, education, and other human services nearby and learn how to access then. As a volunteer, you will play a role in updating information available on these resources!

When: Tuesday, 1/22, 6-8PM
Where: WeWork Montgomery, 44 Montgomery St, San Francisco, CA (17th Floor, Room 17A)

This is a great opportunity for those who are simply looking to meet with new like-minded people or to learn more about the struggles faced by the homeless community. Many of our returning volunteers also mentioned that they are grateful that they can use their skills to help the community directly! On the other hand, many of our community representatives have also expressed how inspiring this event is as they get to meet and to collaborate with many passionate volunteers in combating homelessness! Please join our Datathon and help furthering our us & register on the eventbrite page! Thanks!

Mission Statement

ShelterTech is a technology-focused non-profit dedicated to helping people who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. Our goal is to make it easier for this community to connect with resources that can help them address their challenges, become permanently housed, and on track to live happy and productive lives. Description

ShelterTech is an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to leveraging technology and connectivity to help people who are homeless or housing insecure. ShelterTech has its roots directly in the community, founded in 2016 by Darcel Jackson, an individual who experienced homelessness firsthand.

Launched in November 2019, SF ServiceGuide is an online directory of human services in San Francisco. Its goal is to help anyone with access to a smartphone, tablet, or computer find the services they need.
